An update on GBE Futures
Our energy trading development program in full swing
We have been busy this summer. As the eastern interconnection exhales after a strenuous effort over the past few months, there is finally an opportunity for us to provide an update on what we have been up to.
Last fall, we embarked on an ambitious project — GBE Futures. Power markets are navigating changes not seen in decades. Sources of supply are evolving, and demand is picking up, largely driven by our insatiable appetite for computing power. We are transitioning into a new era of energy trading, one that is hungry for ever more data and analysis, yet still has room for the seasoned veteran, whose experience rhymes with everything “new” that is just taking on a slightly different form.
GBE Futures is our energy trader development program. Just as the current stock of energy traders once wowed their elders with their mastery of Excel, a new generation vibe-codes with reckless (yet very effective) abandon. This shift succinctly aligns with the load growth that large language models are currently driving. As a company, we have constructed a platform for learning power markets at an accelerated speed, and the results so far are extremely encouraging. In true trader form, the exact details to be publicly known are sparse, kept securely within the confines of the trade floor. But a few details can be shared. Nowhere in the industry (at least as far as we can tell) is providing the access, support, and mentorship by veteran traders like we are: decades of collective experience, millions in trading profits. Also on offer is a ream of cloud computing, excellent snacks, and some really nice merch.
We started with two interns in January. Alex Hughes and Daniel Collin. In May, joining us were Martin Belavy, Mayankjot Singh, Reid Clark, and Sam Vojtassak. Alex, Daniel, and Martin have transitioned to full-time roles. Mayank will continue with us part-time until his studies are complete, and will join us full-time in the coming spring. Reid and Sam will be coming back for additional terms as they complete their studies. And in January of 2026, we are excited to be joined by Jonah Pandarinath and Maaz Khalid.
Internship opportunities for this coming spring are up. If you know someone who is a good fit, share away. If you are a good fit, definitely apply. And God bless everyone.
